library etiquette

being always concerned with the right etiquette, whether hosting a party (make sure that no one is ever with am empty glass) or swimming in the local pool (fast swimmers should refrain from swimming in the medium lane bullying swimmers into going faster), I was quite excited when i found this blog a while back: A Librarian’s Guide to Etiquette.  

much of the advice applies to non librarians too, such as bringing kids into the office, or whistling.

Here’s an example of the good advice it offers, that more librarians should take note of:

Second Life, Joining

Librarians should think twice before joining Second Life in an attempt to connect with patrons. Your patrons don’t want to be friends with you in real life, so it’s not likely that they’ll be interested in hanging out with your avatar.
